As a church, this year we are setting aside a few weeks to discover what the Bible teaches us about gifting and discovering how God calls and equips us to continue the work of the mission of Jesus on the earth.  Our aim in these Connect Group studies is to facilitate valuable conversation that leads to discovery, encouragement, and growth together.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO LEADERS– There are three primary New Testament passages that talk about ways in which God gifts us:

• Romans 12 gives examples of in-built wiring that everyone has from the beginning of their life. 
• 1 Corinthians 12 talks about gifts for a specific moment that everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit can experience as God sees fit. 
  
• Ephesians 4 gives examples of God-given offices which don’t necessarily apply to everyone. 

This is why we don’t just create one list of every gift mentioned in the New Testament and handle them equally. In study 1 we use a list of values (rather than gifts) because we believe it is a fantastic tool to generate conversation around ways in which God has wired us. But these listed values are by no means to be considered equal to or synonymous with spiritual gifts such as prophecy, healing, or the office of an evangelist.
