What is a Discovery Bible Study

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a small-group way of reading Scripture that helps everyone participate and respond.
It’s simple, repeatable, and designed to be passed on so you can help others follow Jesus.

How DBS works

Read. Retell. Discover. Obey. Share.
A clear rhythm you can follow in any passage.

Start with a passage

Read or listen to the Scripture together, more than once if it helps. Then one person retells it in their own words, and the group fills in what was missed.

Ask four questions

What does this passage tell us about God. What does it tell us about people. What do I need to change. Who will I tell.

Choose one action

Turn one insight into an “I will…” statement you can follow this week. Keep it specific and realistic.

Share and review

Name one person you’ll tell. Next time you meet, begin by asking how it went and what you learned.

Use DBS to make disciples

DBS helps you move from learning to action. You read God’s word, respond with obedience, and share it with others so discipleship spreads through everyday relationships.
Keep groups small so everyone speaks.
Aim for 2–4 people
Start with people you already know.
Family, friends, team mates
Focus on obedience and sharing each week.
